Verified ReviewerPoor Quality Work & Unwilling to Fix a Code Violation
- - Roofer hit a water line; flooding affected bathroom, closet, and bedroom.
- - Not code-compliant; San Marcos says a metal plate was required.
Don't purchase a Coventry home. They do not stand behind their warranty & make it very difficult to get issues resolved.
Per the San Marcos compliance officer, they should've put a metal plate there. Coventry is denying my warrenty claim because I have been in my house past the 2yr warranty period & it passed inspection for them. This line thay was hit flooded my master bathroom, my master closet & my master bedroom. Everything is pulled out.
I currently have no bathroom & everything from the bathroom cabinets & my closet are stacked up in my living room. How can a code violations not Trump a warranty time frame. Their customer service is very poor.
They are about making a dollar & not backing up their service to their homeowners. I will NEVER buy Coventry again & advise anyone looking to avoid them as well.
User's recommendation: Do not buy a Coventry home.

- - Warranty issues are difficult to resolve.
- - They deny coverage with various reasons.
- - Structural issues are not covered after the first year.
They give a very hard time to address warranty issues. They would give you all kinds of reasons claiming that the issues are not covered under warranty. We bought a home in Dunham Pointe Cypress more than a year ago and I see some structural issues with the home where they deny it, saying it is not covered under structural warranty and it should have been covered under the first year of warranty only.

Verified Reviewer |CONTRACT DISPUTE
- - Coventry Homes Cypress contract 01/06/2024; refund denied after 10 days, project not started.
- - Earnest money $17,000 kept; no services.
I have contacted Upper Management and have not receive a return call as expected. I am in the process of pursuing other legal actions.
Since we were still in the planning phase, we requested a refund and was denied the refund even though Coventry Homes has not started the project. We submitted $17,000 in Earnest Money and this company is making every effort to keep our money without providing any services. We decided not to move forward after spending time at the Design Center when we determined that everything that is standard with other home builders is an upgrade with Coventry Homes. Even their upgrades are Sub Par and SUPER Expensive.
This is where they will make up the difference in the price of the home as the standard choices are standards from the year 1994. We also decided not to move forward after reading numerous COMPLAINTS from Customers who are experiencing the SAME PROBLEMS OR WORSE.
PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT BUY A HOME FROM COVENTRY HOMES UNTIL YOU DO SOME RESEARCH. Now, we are looking at taking legal actions as Customer Service and Upper Management are no help.
- Horrible home builder
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified Reviewer |Sloppy build and No response from management
- - Slab is not level and wood flooring is peeling.
- - Kitchen island is crooked and not fixed.
- - Exterior doors are warped and daylight shows through frames.
Every aspect of the house has flaws. Slab is not level and has dips.
They just installed upgraded wood flooring on this and it's peeling up. $10,000 upgraded kitchen island is crooked and they refuse to fix it.
Two exterior doors were upgraded($2000 extra) and the are warped. You can see daylight thru the frames. They refuse to fix them.
Paint was upgraded and it has runs, drips, and sags. Trim was banged up and some were cracked and they still installed them. Garage door rails were crooked and the door fell off. They came out 9 times to fix the AC and it's still not right and they gave up.
Upgraded cabinet doors are warped and bowed and they will not fix them. They also banged them up during install and painted over them with a brush- looks terrible. Shower leaks and the superintendent said to caulk it myself because I would do better than his guys. Roof rafters loose, I had to nail them into the ridge beam myself.
Contacted corporate three times and the boss "was in meetings, he'll call back". Never heard back.
Stay away from this company.
All of our issues have been quoted at $45000 to fix. That's what their incompetence will cost us.
- Model home looks good
- Everything they do is sloppy and incorrect and they do not have the ability to correct it
Preferred solution: Repair items correctly so that I will have what i paid for.
User's recommendation: Do not buy
New Home Build DFW—-Horrific Experience
- - Coventry is seen as the most problematic builder in a DFW master-planned community.
- - Sales pressure to sign contracts/deposits; upgrades cost 100k+.
Building in DFW master planned community: most problematic builder, sales team and design team/options.
Beware the Sales Team are pros and their job is to take your money/deposit and get you on contract. Once you are on contract they have you.
500K-1M house with standard 1984 interiors for that price. To bring your home to 2024 design standards, you will spend another 100K minimum.
Coventry uses predatory sales tactics, bait and switch through the build process.
User's recommendation: Go meet with the Coventry Sales team and then go to your nearest car dealership to test drive…you will see a trend

Verified ReviewerDesign and transparency
- - Coventry Homes lacked communication until 30 days before closing.
- - Jet Homeloans offered rates not matching big banks and poor service.
No one reached out. Nothing was done.
The lack of communication and transparency from Coventry Homes was appallingno updates or emails until 30 days before closing. Then, they gave me just one day and pressured me into choosing a lender due to their own mistake. Their "preferred" lenders, like Jet Homeloans, are a complete scam. Jet Homeloans offered rates that didnt even match those of big banks and provided a terrible customer experience.
When I tried to escalate the issue, I was met with roadblocks.
The only escalation option before closing was through the sales counselors email, and after signing the contract, the corporate office staff hung up on me when I called to address the issue of Jet Homeloans refusing to float down the rate during a market dip. If you're considering Coventry Homes, be prepared for frustration, and steer clear of their preferred lendersthey're not worth the trouble.
- Transperancy
- Communication
Preferred solution: I want to get good quality for what i paid. Just because they are big corporate and have get contract protecting any case doesn't mean we dont fight for what is right for consumer.

Verified ReviewerNegative home buyer experience
- - Closing was moved from the 24th to the 31st due to the team's unpreparedness, with six emails about unavailability and inspections not completed.
We were prepared to close on our new home on the 24th, but the date was unexpectedly rescheduled to the 31st due to the team's lack of readiness. Despite our repeated communication about our unavailability on the 31st and sending six emails to clarify our schedule, we feel like we've become just a piece of paper after signing the contract.
Now, we are being pressured to sign off on the closing, even though the necessary city inspections have not been completed.
We've experienced deception in the past due to their shady practices, and this lack of responsiveness only adds to our frustration. This is an important time for our family, and we deserve better treatment than this.

Verified Reviewer |Untrustworthy and Misleading Practices
- - They promised a refund if we didn't proceed, but refused after lender delays; there were bait-and-switch tactics and lack of transparency.
There has been zero response or accountability by Coventry Homes.
What should have been an exciting journey to homeownership in The Highlands quickly turned into a nightmare of misleading practices and mistreatment.
After being convinced to move forward with a new build despite our expressed desire for a quick move-in timeline, we were assured that our earnest money would be refunded if we chose not to proceed. We were clear that our decision was based on Coventry Homes inability to meet our timeframe due to my work commute and the need to relocate promptly. Yet, when we opted not to move forward after their preferred lender imposed unreasonable six-month delays, Coventry Homes suddenly refused to return our earnest moneyeven though we were not under contract for the proposed new build home.
This bait-and-switch tactic, coupled with their lack of transparency and disregard for our situation, has been damaging. After canceling our contract, we discovered discrepancies in the earnest money amounts listed in the cancellation document.
This, along with a complete lack of communication, has left us frustrated and compelled to pursue legal action to recover our money.
Coventry Homes handling of this issue has shown a complete lack of integrity, accountability, and customer service. Their refusal to honor their commitments or provide any form of transparency is not only unprofessional but also unethical.
We strongly urge anyone considering Coventry Homes to think twice.
Our experience has been plagued with broken promises, mismanagement, and financial dishonesty. Save yourself the headache and choose a builder who values their customers and upholds basic ethical standards.
- Do not trust coventry homes - earnest money stolen
Preferred solution: Full refund

Home built incorrectly and stolen deposit money
- - Coventry is a bad builder and treats customers poorly.
- - The home is built incorrectly with wrong options installed; issues raised are ignored.
Coventry is a very bad builder, they treat you as piece of crap after you sign a contract.
The home is built incorrectly deviating from the actual plan. Incorrect options installed even though the options money paid.
Construction managers and their under skilled temporary subcontractors screw up the home and the management does not agree to issues when reported. If you dare to ask any valid questions or concerns they threaten you with defaulting and losing the Deposit/Ernest money.

For the new house bought two months ago in Pomona in Manvel, they never attended to complaints regarding the one-year warranty. Just last week, I sent an email regarding the lack of power in the garage power plugs, which run the water sprinkler and include the garage door.
I checked the mains, all are on yet there's no power in the garage power plugs. They have yet to send anyone.
- Understandard

Verified Reviewer |Horrible experience with Coventry home builder
- - Moved from San Antonio to Dallas Fort Worth; found a home with a large lot.
- - Price increased by 50k, then 20k after signing, totaling 70k; Coventry concerns.
This past week my wife and I set out to find a perfect home for our family as we are moving to the Dallas Fort Worth area from San Antonio. After looking at more than I want to remember, we found the ONE that we both loved for our family.
Being on a large lot as well as a great neighborhood and customizing our house with the help of Monique the Coventry sales rep for the neighborhood was smooth. She explained what we needed to do in order to hold the lot and get the home started. She let us know that we could save by using the builders lender which we did. My wife and I made all the upgrade changes to the home that we wanted and Monique updated everything on her end.
We were pre approved for the amount needed and we were both sent a contract to e-sign. This is where everything went downhill. On the contract, the base price for the home was 50k more than we had discussed in the sales office. When I called Monique, she stated that I was right about the price however it is now the higher amount.
We were upset, however after talking it over with my wife we agreed that this was the only home that we loved. I called the Coventry lender that we were working with and let him know and he updated the pre approval letter accordingly. I signed my portion of the contract and my wife was on her way home from work to do the same when I received a call from Monique stating that her boss had just raised the price by an additional 20k. At this point I just couldnt believe it.
She said she would call and talk to her boss and get back with me. Some time passed and she sent me a text not a call but a text saying sorry, he wont change it. This company told me what we needed to do and we did it, then said I could save if I went through their lender. Within 1 day this home had two price increases totaling 70k.
What the *** kind of company runs like this? DO NOT BUY FROM COVENTRY. They are scam artists.
Unacceptable business practices when they know you have been approved for a loan through their lender and had signed a contract they sent to me. Scary that businesses are allowed to operate like this.
- Wait until you get approved for loan then hike the price up
Preferred solution: Still upset over the whole thing.
User's recommendation: Do not buy from Coventry home builders
Warranty claim was a joke
- - Warranty repair for window leak took years with no proper fix.
- - COVID and company changes delayed warranty claims; inspection found nothing.
Highly disappointed in their warranty service. I bought my new built home in April 2019 and months later, I had a leak between two windows of my bedroom.
I submitted a warranty request and they came out to "fix" it and years later, they still have not fixed the issue and every time ! talk to someone they blow my husband and myself off.
First it was COVID (emergency repairs only) then it was the company change and the system for warranty claims.
When they finally came out to "repair it" then they said nothing was wrong and it was caulking on the other side.
We sealed everything there after and STILL there's warping in between the windows and now there's visible mold. I had a contractor look and was advising to go through insurance because it may have leaked onto the flooring but guess what? My insurance company doesn't cover faulty install.
I mean why should they right?!
Wilshire/Coventry homes SHOULDVE fixed it within the year. Fixed it and made it right there after.
It's now been 5 years and I'm contemplating on suing. I have every right and evidence of reaching out on and off throughout the years!!!
User's recommendation: Fight them through the warranty claim. Do not close on the home until they fix everything!

- - Home was 42 sq ft short and not acknowledged.
- - Do not buy a Coventry home because the builder was fired after closing and issues began on day one.
Purchased a home in 2021-22. The home is 42 square feet short.
And they don't want to acknowledge their mistake. Also, there has been a problem with something in the house since day 1. Builder was fired right after closing.
Coventry knew he did a lot of shady things when building the homes in 2021-22. So, please do not purchase a Coventry home.

Worst builder, sells home based on lies and doesn’t honor warranty
I complained about my backyard several times even before closing my house. It has several potholes and one big drench near foundation and entrance of backyard.
Water was standing right next to home which is blocking us to not go to backyard. I was told this is temporary and because of new sod. Once I moved in to my home I raised several complaints in first month and they ignored and said its not written in books.
They warranty as good as trash. Lennar builder does or did lot better for similar scenarios in my friends case

Hi Lorita, I have requested a refund and was denied. I am still attempting to locate someone who can help us. Thanks, Barbara
I am on the same boat, there are construction defects which they disagree and force me to terminate the contract without giving back my earnest money, suggest me what can I do?
